First birthday party

It was a little over a month ago but I think I'll lose some mom cred if I don't share at least a couple photos from his first birthday party. It was just a simple shindig with friends, snacks, animals in party hats and of course, his first taste of cake.

It was kinda hard for me to keep it simple because there are just so many cute kid parties out there (entire blogs dedicated to it!) but I couldn't let myself spend that kind of money on a first birthday, so we ended up just using decor we had (or borrowed) and the only thing we bought was food. Now, if I had an extra $1000 to use on a party you better believe I would've done it up but he'll never know the difference right?! :)

It was fun and straight-forward and us! And he had a blast!


Also, happy new year! Ironically, it was on January 2nd last year that I first introduced Beck on the blog. So I guess fashionably late is my thing ;)

and he's one!

This photo pretty much sums up how he felt about his birthday. It was the most perfect day.

We went to the Christmas parade and he made that face almost the whole time and kept saying "whoaaaa".  After that, we decided we needed a fun birthday tradition for him and pancakes at Slappy Cakes felt like the right decision. He shoveled little pancakes into his mouth faster than I've seen him eat anything else.

We smothered him in kisses the rest of the day and finished out the night seeing the big christmas tree downtown get lit.

catching up: birthday

My birthday was the day before thanksgiving this year, and in keeping with our tradition we set up our tree and christmas decorations. We love christmas alot alot alot so we like to be all decked out.. but this year our space is quite a big larger and it felt a little sparse at first (you'll see). We fixed that with a few trips to the store :)

birthday

My birthday was Monday and a few years ago we started a new birthday/Christmas tradition where we get out our tree and officially begin the Christmas season by decorating the house, drinking hot cocoa and blasting the Christmas music! Its always only a couple days before Thanksgiving, and I like getting a head start on it! This year we have a white tree (thank you christmas clearance!) and decorated it with all vintage glass balls. After decorating we took a walk around our (still very fall-ish) neighborhood.. and later went out to dinner with the whole family. It was perfect!
