Watching: Downton Abbey. I finally gave this a shot after hearing nothing but good things about it. I have to say the first season was a little hard to get into, there are SO many characters and I found myself looking at wikipedia after every episode to figure it out. I'm loving it now though, I just finished season 2 and now i'm trying to figure out where I can watch season 3. I  also got caught up with parenthood about a month ago and I tried finishing the second season of American horror story but it got creepy/weird and was giving me nightmares so I stopped.

Hating: taking my vitamins. after years i am still such a baby about this! i start to feel gaggy even just thinking about it.  i've found taking them with juice is WAY better but i still avoid it all day. Am i the only one? any tricks that make it easier?

Feeling: Thankful! April has been full of all kinds of emotions, but mostly the good sappy kind. And it's been a busy month. Hence why the blog has been ignored. Also, super thankful to have a new (to us) car. Our previous one bit the dust a few weeks ago and we spent two weeks relying on other people or public transportion (the worst!). Despite the inconvenience i am so grateful for friends who took me grocery shopping during that time (you're the best sarah!!) and now we're stoked to have a prius (typical portlanders...)

Eating: a really amazing piece of hazelnut chocolate. I've been off sugar again, but I get one day a week to enjoy something sweet (which happens to be today!). It's really doable for me and it feels good to not be eating sugar every day. You should try this method if you need to cut back on sugar, it doesn't feel too limiting.

Excited about: putting some new items in my store soon! I have quite a few new accessories, as well as some new dresses/prints for ladies and babies! Look for those in May! I'm hoping by announcing that it'll give me the motivation to actually work long days and not just take naps ;)

Thats all for now! Play along in the comments if you'd like! Hope you all have an amazing week

  1. My husband hates taking his vitamins as well - but over here in Australia, they have just introduced Vita-gummies, which are for kids, which look and taste like those glucose sweets! He now gets two of these milder ones instead of one enormous tablet and doesnt think twice about them. Do they have them in the US?

  2. Downton is verrry confusing at first, but you definitely get used to it. It'll be easier to remember the people once you have your favorites. :)

  4. Being British I'm ashamed to admit that i've only just started watching it, after years of leaving the room whenever my parents were watching...now I live away from England and there is nothing that satisfies my cravings for all things English than a dose of Downton!!! I'm at the same point as you! Need to start the 3rd series before I forget who everyone is!

  5. You used to be able to watch Season 3 on PBS.org but it doesn't look like it's available anymore... they might have re-runs of the 3rd season if you get PBS on tv. I love Downton Abbey... Cousin Violet is hilarious.

  6. I hate vitamins too and just put them as far back in my mouth as possible, swig water and swallow down :|

  7. As someone who takes public transport to work to do my part for the planet, I would hardly call it "the worst". I think it's a wonderful alternative to everyone driving their cars all the time and polluting the environment, no?

    1. I recently found your blog and have been enjoying some of your lovely posts, but I too was baffled by your transit comments in this post. It seems that "typical Portlanders" would also be well versed in taking public transit (which is pretty good in Portland, unless you live way outside the city), walking and cycling. If you're not, I would urge you to look into it! So, I'm not hating, but just curious at your word choice and meaning.

    2. Oh geez, sometimes things come out the wrong way (thanks internet!), and i also over-exaggerate too much. I suppose its really not "the worst!" like i said. what i meant is its not really doable for myself and my husband for multiple reasons 1) it costs far more than our gas/car expenses 2) takes 2-3x longer to get anywhere 3) doesn't really work for our lifestyle (ie: me getting 2 weeks worth of groceries by myself while on public transportation? not doable). i have friends that use it exclusively and that works for them! but for us it just doesn't make sense and was a pain in the rear when we had to use it (possibly because we just weren't used to the system). I will say it is a lifesaver if you're visiting places, we loved getting around on the metro in Paris. Hope that helps clear things up. :)

    3. Ha, yes, I'm so happy you responded. I love talking with people about transit and city planning (creating cities that are easy and fun to walk and bike in), but geez, what a tricky subject to bring up. It's easy to end such a conversation with both parties feeling grumpy and frustrated (visit any blog on the subject, check out the comments, and you will see some heated and haughty words being exchanged.) I'm glad you've thought about and considered your transportation situation, even if you ended up at a different conclusion than I have.
And I know what you mean about those exaggerations getting away with you! I have to check myself when I'm talking to strangers because I will often make an exaggerated comment that sometimes cause confusion and an eyebrow-raise. (Or maybe my jokes just aren't as funny as I think they are...)

      Thanks, Abi

  8. Totally go with chewy vitamins. They even make them for adults now. I love them.

  9. Have you ever tried the chewable vitamins from Trader Joe's? I hear they are really good. I am also a vitamin-hater and now that I am pregnant my husband and I have a daily session where he forces me to take them. Not fun!

  10. Project Free TV. Just discovered it... It's great. I've been watching many epiosdes of Gilmore Girls while I've been on modified "bed-rest". http://www.free-tv-video-online.me/internet/downton_abbey/season_3.html

It's a little spammy but not too bad. We've been watching the current season of mad men there too. =)
