FLASHBACK

Exactly a year ago we we're finishing up almost 4 weeks of traveling through europe (i think we saw every square inch of germany). I remember lots of driving, and being perpetually cold and hungry but it was also some of the most fun i've ever had..sooo many memories.
A few:
In the Netherlands we got confused and ended up driving our big van down the BIKE(!) freeway thing... there were middle fingers and people punching our car but i was dying of laughter.
In Paris we practically ran to every famous sight so we could see all of them in the one night we were there.. I don't think my feet have ever hurt that much in my life but it was worth it.
In Berlin we stayed at this awesome hostel that used to be an old hospital, it was amazing!
In South Germany (can't remember the city right now..) we stayed with the nicest girl who made us spaetzle (which none of us liked..oops!) and we drank what she called burp water which was a mix of coke and orange juice.. it was weird and did in fact make you very burpy.

(lets not forget though, i did experience what may be the worst day of my life on that trip--i'm looking at you Ukraine! i've never been so confused and tired in my life...worst 24 hours ever)

If i could have my way, I'd save up every last dollar I could and travel with Josh around the whole world. Maybe one of these days...

  1. Oh, well now I am incredibly nostalgic for my brief few weeks in Europe. Looks like it's time to save my pennies to go back...

  4. I cracked up thinking of you on a bikepath in my beloved Holland -- the biker is definitely king here! I can just picture everyone getting all indignant and tossing up the bird, haha!!

It's one of the most intimate things you can do with someone, traveling - how lucky you are to have been able to attack Europe together! My husband and I have 4 cultures between us so our early relationship was built by necessity on travel. It's an odd comfort to be together in one place, now. (:

  5. Sounds like an awesome trip :) I loved spaetzle when I was in Germany, haha. I wish my husband + I had gone to the eiffle tower at night when we were there on our honeymoon. We literally saw it up close for like 5 minutes before dashing somewhere else.

  8. I just discovered you blog via ABM, and that'a a very good thing, I already love it.
It's funny to see my own country through somebody else's eyes :-)
And even if Paris is a magical city, hopefully we won't choose it for a honeymoon !

Thanks for what you are sharing.
