Cold brew coffee

Cold brew coffee.. it's a favorite of mine (i even posted about it last year). It's faster than my regular french press routine, which is mostly good but sometimes results in drinking TOO much. You just need to remember to mix it up the night before and the next thing you know you'll have coffee in your hand approximately 20 seconds after rolling out of bed... and if you're like me, 4 more times throughout the day. I don't know if this is the fanciest way to do it but I like it, and you should try it!

2/3 cup ground coffee (medium-coarse grind is best)
1. In a jar, stir together coffee and 3 cups water. Cover and let rest in refrigerator overnight or 12 hours.
2. Strain twice through a coffee filter, a fine-mesh sieve or a sieve lined with cheesecloth. Or press through a french press.
In a tall glass filled with ice, mix equal parts coffee concentrate and water, or to taste. If desired, add milk

  1. Yum! I'm trying this tonight, because I love iced coffee and hate how long it takes to cool down after brewing. Mixing it & forgetting it overnight seems way better!

  3. Awesome. When it's 90 degrees outside and my pathetic A/C leaves me sweating all night, it's not always the most pleasant thing to gulp hot coffee in the mornings in between showering and blow-drying my hair. This will solve that problem! Thanks for sharing.

  5. There's a single café in my town that makes cold-drip coffee. They bottle a different blend every week and serve it with a tall glass filled with ice-cubes and little jugs of full-cream milk and maple syrup. I LOVE IT. I didn't think I could make anything similar myself, but now I've got your blue print. Thanks for sharing. x

  6. Abby!! You HAVE GOT TO GET A TODDY!!! Its such a great home brew system for iced coffee. There are seriously TWO places in Chicago that I enjoy a cold brewed coffee, TWO! One of those places uses a siphon brewing system as well as a toddy. They are not too expensive either!

  12. this is amazing! i love fresh coffee from the french press in the morning but usually roll out of bed too late and don't have time so I end up having to waste a few dollars at a coffee shop on my way to work. i'm definitely trying this from now on.
