newest member of the fam

Say hello to tiniest (2 lbs!)  and sweetest girl!! We adopted her on father's day but didn't get to bring her home until this past Wednesday and we've been lovestruck ever since. Josh and I still can't agree on a name, so we've been calling her Kitty, or girl kitty, or sissy for now... but please help us out! I've tossed around a million names, some that I love (but Josh doesn't) and nothing really seems to fit her yet. So really, i'd love your input!

I'm pretty relieved that mosey warmed up to her really quick. He is a pretty spoiled cat so I was worried what he'd think about anything else getting attention but he loves her.. and they've been playing together constantly. They will be the best of pals..

a friday picnic

Sometimes when you don't get to take your usual day off.. and you spend too many hours cleaning your house, and you have to skip date night.. you just have to throw together a quick picnic and go to a park with some magazines and books.
That's what we did yesterday at least. I knew there would be a 2 hour lull in the afternoon to hang out so I made us some asian bowls (brown rice, a million veggies and an array of sauces) and we sat in the park eating, talking and reading. The sun was nowhere to be found which made for a pretty cold picnic but thats infinitely better than melting so i'll take it!

josh is 29

last tuesday was josh's birthday and we spent most of the day being lazy and just hanging around the house. Even though he isn't a huge fan of cake, I wanted to make one anyway since a birthday isn't really a birthday without cake! He ended up loving it - I think I have the frosting to thank for that. Later we had a delicious dinner then finished the evening with a walk around the neighborhood, coffee in hand.

I adore that man of mine. He's the most talented person I know (musician, author, videographer, the list goes on...) and also the kindest, most humble human being on the planet. It blows my mind and makes me want to be a better person every day. (mushy!!)

I hope I get to make a hundred more lopsided birthday cakes for this guy... 

first week of june

The first week of June looked a little like this.. with some stress and boredom thrown in there too.. which explains why there was a kitty/self mini photo-shoot.  The lighting in my little studio is almost always so perfect for photos.. i got lucky. Speaking of kitty, Josh and I have been talking about adopting another kitten soon.. i'm trying not to think about it too much because just the idea of it makes me want to have a heart attack in the best way.

The first week of June was also pretty cold.. scarves and cardigans are still a must around here. Most people have been complaing but I'm convinced Oregon and Washington have the best summers around.

I also made these pretzels again.. and they were as yummy as ever. And the chalkboard art was inspired by whitney.

baby buckley..

Hello hello! Last week I got to photograph Becca's handsome little guy, Buckley. I don't think I'll ever get tired of newborn sessions.. sure they require a little more time and patience but they are always so precious you can't help but love every second of it. You can see more photos on my photography blog..

Also, since my photography is a big part of my life, i'll be sharing some photos of clients on here from time to time.. but the majority will be on my photography blog. So if you follow both, I hope you don't mind.. pictures are the best part anyway, right?!

Impressed by: iphone photography. i think sometimes I take for granted just how impressive the photos can turn out. all of the above photos were taken with it. There's about a million photo apps, but one of my favorites is the vsco cam. Such pretty results.. always!

Reading: Today I finished The night circus which was my favorite book of the year so far. I was completely captivated 2 pages in.. so magical and incredible! I hear it's being made into a movie and I REALLY hope it's done well..

Anticipating: josh coming home today. He was off in California for most of May with his band but he'll be rolling back into town today (a few days earlier than planned too!). I'm excited to get back to "normal" life.. it's always a bit off when he's gone. Definitely looking forward to a few lazy days off with him and celebrating his birthday next week!

Working on: time management. why didn't anyone tell me running a business (actually.. two!) by yourself is the most time consuming thing in the world. i feel like people assume when you're "self-employed" you have all the time in the world but really, it's the exact opposite.. longer hours, and usually less pay.. but totally worth it!! (i think a longer post on this subject is needed..)

Listening to: I usually have spotify on all times of the day.. my playlist right now has lots of Beach house, azure ray, sucre, coldplay and gregory alan isakov.

Obsessing over: a custom leather tote bag i'm making for a friend (see photo above). I definitely need one for myself. I'm planning on doing a limited run of them for my shop.. would you be interested??
