Hello friends.
the past couple weeks have flown by like crazy. (well, really this whole year has flown by like crazy)
its been a fun couple weeks so far hanging out with lots of family and friends. but i also miss my husband a ton (awww..)
the northwest is great as always. the weather has been abnormally warm for this time of year but its cooling way down now and this morning i woke up early to go to a dr appointment with my sister (to check on baby) and it was FREEEEEZING outside. my body was in shock. but i love when its so cold the only way you can warm yourself up is by drinking a big cup of hot tea. (aka perfect running weather, which makes me a happy girl)
NW 23rd. one of my favorite streets in portland.

Another great thing about being here.. going to this church. Josh and i have been listening through podcasts for almost 3 years. So it was really strange/awesome to be there in person. I love it and everyone is super nice. if you live in the area and you're looking for a church, check it out. they have services downtown portland and in tigard.
speaking of downtown portland, these little cupcakes are from saint cupcake, which is probably the cutest cupcake shop i've ever seen. we had pumpkin spice, chocolate peanut butter, chocolate cream cheese and "big top".
(if you ever find yourself in portland, you gotta come here. they sell "day old" cupcakes for super duper cheap too)
then there is Fubonn. I've been wanting to check this place out for AGES! I am a huge grocery store nerd. I love regular boring grocery shopping, but i especially love going in new-to-me grocery stores, and walking down every single aisle.. inspecting every single thing. I also love asian food, so i was in grocery store nerd heaven. (aka josh's worst nightmare.)
i was flipping out in the candy aisle, and the noodle aisle, and the sauce aisles.. not to mention the incredible selection of tea. it was amazing.
i got some noodles, tapioca pearls for bubble tea and ingredients for homemade pad thai.
i hope fall has been treating you well so far.
This looks wonderful! And I love your photos! They capture simple beauty! Wonderful! <33
ReplyDeletemmm...those cupcakes look amazing. i won some of those cupcakes from a blog giveaway a while back. the pumpkin spice ones are amazing! i am a grocery store nerd too, luckily fletcher shares my excitement even though he doesn't like to cook with me. ha!
ReplyDeleteHahaha - I'm the same way! While in England for a summer, one of the things I was most excited about was everyday grocery shopping (in Sainsbury's). Nothing made me happier than trying gooseberry and blackcurrant-flavored yogurts. Honeycomb candy bars. Chicken and prawn-flavored potato chips. ...haha :)
ReplyDeleteI have dreams about going to fancy grocery stores. ha! I'm going to Portland in a few week. I must go get one of those cupcakes!
ReplyDeleteI, too, LOVE grocery shopping. So many strange, neat, incredible things to be found (and eaten!) out there.
ReplyDeleteOh my! I'm glad you mentioned your crazy love for grocery stores.
ReplyDeleteEven Wal-Mart is interesting to me, and going to Publix is such a special treat!
I love just looking at absolutely everything.
Portland is my dream-hometown! What were you doing there?
i love cute grocery stores! so much fun!
ReplyDeletehow nice. yummy sweets!

tapioca pearls for bubble tea sounds gooood! i never thought to make tapioca tea...hmm, wonderful post! : )
ReplyDeleteHow great! Me and the boy have tickets "waiting for us" from his aunt in celebration of graduation from Chiropractic school. We will keep these places in mind!
ReplyDeleteWhen we lived in Marietta, GA there was a totally cool Japanese Supermarket, called Tomato! I loved finding great treasures there. My favorite find, Green Tea Ice Cream. yum!
How fun! I'm glad you're having fun. That church looks really cool. It reminds me of the church I've been going to (or trying to go to--it's a 45 minute drive from the island I live on and I don't have a car.:/). It's called Real Life Fellowship. Anyway, I may have to check out that podcast sometime.
ReplyDeleteThose cupcakes look so yummy! And that store looks totally neat. I would have flipped out in the candy aisle for sure. hee hee What on earth is bubble tea?? It sounds cool! haha!
