Today has been pretty great. I got more sewing work done than i planned (what?? that NEVER happens), tidied up our room (ahem.. messy husband), and tonight we're hanging out and having dinner with my parents. Also, how can the day be bad if you're wearing a cat print blouse and a mustard skirt? Not even a dark rainy day can bring me down!
Speaking of cats, I don't know if you can tell in the pictures I post of ours (his name is Mosey).. but he licks all the fur off his sides and its been that way for over a year now! We've taken him to the vet twice and they say nothing is wrong other than he likes to be really clean and excessively bathes himself. (We ruled out allergies by changing litter and food multiple times) The weird part is he has never had a hair ball. Does anyone elses cat do this? We still love him the same of course, but he looks pretty silly with just a mohawk and a huge fluffy tail.

P.s. I'd like to point out that I didn't work on a sewing project for myself, nor make a video over the weekend but we did in fact get the house we we're going to look at friday night! We're super excited to have a bigger place in a great neighborhood with our own workspaces that aren't in the living room! Thank you Jesus!!

pps: you can buy the skirt i'm wearing here!

  1. my cat went through a similar issue, she licked all of the fur off of her belly and the insides of her legs, she looked like someone had skinned her! I took her to the vet numerous times, and they stated nothing was wrong, so I started doing some internet research and found out she most likely had anxiety. We recently moved and added an extra animal to the mix and this was her way of not adjusting well. The only thing that seems to help her is a pheromone collar. I get them at Petsmart, the brand i use is Sentry Calming Collar. I recommend trying it. Her hair started growing back immediately, and she looks so much better. The collars only last up to a month though, so i usually get the value pack, because she starts licking again once shes not wearing it for a few days. i also spray her down with hydrocortisone to stop the itching from hair growth.
good luck. i hope this helps!

  2. Will it just be you and Josh? Or are the other band boys moving in too? haha

  3. Our older cat licked all of the hair off of his belly when we got two new kittens. It's since (mostly) grown in again, but it was pretty bad for awhile. He never had any hairballs, either!

Also, your outfit is fabulous. I keep eyeing that skirt in your shop, I just am not sure about how I would be in a high waisted skirt with my hips as wide as they are. Great color combo today, though!

  5. I love mustard and navy together...super cute outfit! Also hooray for cats and cats and for moving closer to everything! Now you definitely will have to try Por Que No! I can't believe Mosey doesn't get hair balls. Where the heck does the hair go?

  7. My cat Kobe did that. She would lick all the fur off of her belly and the inside of her legs. She was a pretty tough, mean little shit- but once she started licking, she became a totally different cat! She would cuddle and purr and lounge instead of attack and hide. The vet said it was anxiety. Since her licking made her nice- we didn't care! After a few years though, she stopped licking. I think it was because of age though, she wasn't as limber and couldn't reach. She did get hairballs, pretty often too.

If you are worried about his hair not moving through his system- you can get Royal Canine's Intense Hairball food. That is what we feed our kitty Matilda because she sheds a ton now that we live in a climate that has no real seasonal temperature changes. She sheds like crazy- and has the hairballs to match. We got her that food and now she only has a small one like once a month. The food has a ton of fiber in it so they pass the fur. Whoa TMI. Anyway.

  12. My cat, Olive, has the same exact issue! She licks all the hair off of her sides. Our vet diagnosed it as anxiety, and we give her amitriptyline for it. I think it has helped quite a bit with her obsessive hair-removing, and it's only about $7/month from the pharmacy (it's cheaper for us to get it there than at the vet). Unfortunately, fighting to get that pill down her throat is going to cause ME to need anti-anxiety meds! Good luck with your stressed kitty :) I feel your pain.

  13. My 14 year old cat has done this since he was 5. He licks all the hair off his paunch and inside legs. Same thing as the others who have posted - vet didn't diagnose as anything in particular although he's a total mama's boy cat who had a lot of anxiety issues early on. But as long as he doesn't irritate the skin, I don't really care. He seems to like it and it's become habit, stress or not.

  17. my cat was recently losing his hair around his legs because of his separation anxiety (yes, the vet even said it was probably from him being away from us when we went on vacation). it's slowly growing back in but he suggested pheromones. you plug them into an outlet and they're just natural hormones that make a cat feel calm. i haven't tried it yet since it seems like his hair is coming back but if it doesn't seem to be bothering you're cat and it's obviously not causing him any pain i'd say you're fine to just let him lick his hair away(:

  18. Your kitty is so adorable! Sorry to hear about the fur loss, but I guess if it doesn't present a major health issue then its not all that bad. Also loving the cat print blouse, and your skirt is gorgeous! The perfect color and shape! Have a happy monday :)
